Artist in Residence

For a more in-depth look at puppetry, we offer a three-day residency package which is ideal for first through fifth grade children. Two puppeteers come to your school or location and teach four classes of up to twenty-four children each day. In addition to the basics of creating and performing a puppet production, children learn art appreciation, exercise speaking skills, build self-esteem and much, much more.

Day One: Each child picks a character for a chosen story -- you can choose (tie it in with a lesson plan perhaps), we can choose, or we cal let the kids choose. We practice our puppet voices (the louder, the sillier, the better). The puppeteers help the children with their characters' lines for the script. We end the day with a read-through of the play.

Day Two: With the puppeteers' guidance, the children construct a simple puppet of their character. (We make it sound so easy!)
Day Three: The big day! After a dress rehearsal behind the puppet stage, the children perform their production for their classmates.
